The Institute of Vision is a non-profit non-governmental organization located in the city of São Paulo linked to the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of the Paulista School of Medicine, Federal University of São Paulo-UNIFESP. It was created in 1990 with the mission to promote, implement, and execute actions for the research, assistance, and education in eye care and vision.

The institute is run by an executive board regulated by a board of directors. The president and members of the board are volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for their work. The IPEPO also has a fiscal board that is responsible for approving the finances of the institution.

Vision institute is audited by an external consulting firm every year, and its financial information is approved by an independent fiscal board. Also, executive decisions are approved by the Board of Directors in monthly meetings.

The president of the Vision Institute and the executive board members ate volunteers and are not paid for their work.
